Creating My Blog

Blogging can be an effective tool by which one may share thoughts, ideas and opinions in the context of the Internet.
In order to create and maintain a successful blog, the essential criteria of purpose, design, content and audience must be clearly identified and considered.  A blogs purpose should do one of four things:
inform, inspire, invoke or incite (Reyes, 2014).
The purpose of Quiet is the New Loud will be to inform its audience regarding communication related topics, as well as additional posts pertaining to music related content.

Design relates to any number of content features.
When working in concert, the design principles of color, layout, spacing, illustration, proportion and simplicity all contribute to the successful creation of a cohesive, inviting and enthralling blog.  Quiet is the New Loud employs a simplistic yet dramatic design.  Its basic layout is contrasted by deep ox-blood colored borders, and the sparing but impactful use of imagery draws the reader’s eye down the page.

The content of a blog, as well as how that content is arranged, greatly affects the success and overall readability of the site.  Short sentences and paragraphs, headings, and visuals all assist in the creation of a popular and effective blog.  Furthermore, writing content that is compelling and relevant to the audience is imperative.
Finally, little one blogs about will resonate with readers if the author is not writing with a specific audience in mind.
By knowing ones audience, the proper tone can be used when blogging.  Whether that may be humorous, serious, or studious, it must be appropriate to the audience of the site.  The audience of Quiet is the New Loud will likely embrace content that is witty, yet cerebral.

  1. Hi Allie!

I actually like that I've been able to read your assignment entries for the past couple of weeks, via your blog. In many of the classes we've taken, we usually don't get an opportunity to see how and what others have submitted for their work and I continue to find your viewpoint refreshing. I know that you've mentioned that you haven't quite yet posted anything personal in your blog, but from what I have been able to read here, I am still able to see glimmers of who you are in your word choice and attention to layout detail. Your personality remains present.

I find your color choice to be calming for me... it glides easily with the content of the blog as I read through your work. I think I would equally love to see your placement of imagery in your posts as they relate to your blog. It would give that much more connection to your words and also provide specific context on what you're attempting to convey in your message. We always hope that our readers will interpret our thoughts exactly as we intended, but sometimes the translation can get lost. I find that images can help to solidify what our words are trying to say.

I really look forward to seeing more on your blog. I hope you decide to keep it going.

    Cheers!
