Select three of your fellow
students’ blogs to review. Post a comment on each of the Blogs that you
have selected, and provide feedback regarding purpose, design, content, and
audience. Please be specific as to your recommendations for enhancement
and revision. Make every effort to post comments to Blogs that have not
already been critiqued.
Emilio:
Your blog is engaging and entertaining
from the very first viewing. Its purpose as a communications focused blog
is clearly conveyed through the posts you have selected. The design of
your blog is striking; the image you have chosen as the background is
intriguing and inviting yet doesn’t interfere with the content. I may
recommend that you invert the text and text background colors. Black on
white may be easier to read and would stand out more from the blog
background. According to Gillin, “Use white space, bullets, images and
subheads to keep your text open and readable”(2006).
The content of your blog strikes a
healthy balance; I like the fact that you have posts related to course material
intermixed with posts of a personal nature. It is clear that your
blog will appeal to a communications geared audience. However, the
youthful design and images contained within your blog may also help to attract
an audience unfamiliar with the content, but engage them so they stay to read
your posts.
Danielle:
Your blog is eye-catching and very
pleasant to look at. The fact that your blog serves a specific, urgent
purpose in addition to showcasing your schoolwork is important. I hope you
continue to post regarding your search for a donor. The design and layout
of your blog is straightforward and easy to read. I like how you
chose the white text backdrop in contrast with the swirling orange blog
background; it really makes your words and pictures pop.
One recommendation I would make is
to add a page break so that a portion of your post shows up on the main blog
but readers must follow the link to read the full post. In this way
readers are teased into clicking into the full post and the blog home page
doesn’t look cluttered. The content of your blog is as inviting as the
design; your casual and conversational tone really pulls the reader into the
story of each post. I believe any reader interested in communications related
information conveyed in a relatable fashion would be a fan of your blog, great
job!
Damon:
I believe you just started over with
your blog, so it seems just a little bare to me, yet clean. The purpose
of your blog is clearly communications-centric as it contains assignments
relating to the course. The deep oxblood color of your blog is quite
different, and captivating. The cream-colored text stands out
refreshingly from the maroon background.
For longer posts like your media
summaries post, I would suggest you add a page break so only a portion of the
post is displayed on the homepage. The posts you have displayed on your
blog currently are all course related, it may be nice to branch out and add
some posts of a personal nature that give the reader insight into you as the
blog author. From the look of your blog right now, your audience will
likely be interested in informative and direct posts. I look forward to
seeing how your blog will develop in the coming weeks!

Hey, it's been some time. I came through to see if you were still using your blog. I see some changes that I hadn't seen before and I like them... A LOT! It was really exciting to have you in class. I graduated in this October graduation in San Diego. I wish you all the best.
